According to a report from Give Me Sport, Chelsea had expressed interest in signing Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and proposed offering Axel Disasi in exchange. However, Everton rejected the proposal, as they were unwilling to part with their key player.
Both Disasi and Wesley Fofana have not been central to Chelsea’s plans, with Disasi struggling for regular appearances and Fofana spending last season on loan at Union Berlin and Burnley. Moving to Everton could have provided them with a chance for more regular football, but Everton’s reluctance to lose Calvert-Lewin, their top striker, made the deal unfeasible.
Everton has had a difficult start to the season and needs to retain their best players to avoid another relegation battle. Holding onto Calvert-Lewin is crucial for their Premier League survival and potential improvement in the coming weeks.
Chelsea, meanwhile, aims to offload fringe players like Disasi (£80,000-a-week) and Fofana (£30,000-a-week) to free up their wage bill and reinvest in quality additions. Even though the Premier League transfer window has closed, other leagues are still open, which may provide Chelsea an opportunity to finalize these exits.
Everton will need to bolster their squad and provide better support for Calvert-Lewin. With the right additions, they could push for a top-half finish and recover from their current struggles.
