Ange Postecoglou is confident that Radu Dragusin is poised to play a significant role in Tottenham’s 2024/25 season.
The Romanian defender, who was instrumental in his country’s Euro 2024 campaign, joined Spurs from Genoa in January. Though Dragusin has been gradually acclimating to the Premier League, he made a notable start against Newcastle United on Sunday, filling in for the injured Micky van de Ven.
Despite Tottenham’s 2-1 loss at St. James’ Park, Dragusin performed admirably, winning four of six aerial duels and seven of nine overall duels. He also made two clearances, two recoveries, one interception, one block, and one tackle.
Postecoglou, Tottenham’s manager, believes Dragusin will have a major impact this season. “I thought he did well. It was a great opportunity to test him,” Postecoglou said after the match (via Tottenham Hotspur’s official website). “At 22, he’s still young for a defender, and facing the challenge posed by Newcastle and Isak required a lot of focus, which he maintained. I believe he’s going to play a big role for us this season, and this experience will be beneficial for his development.”
