However, the team has been flawless so far, winning all four of their league matches, including a convincing 3-1 victory over Portsmouth. Jobe Bellingham has shown flashes of brilliance early in the campaign, and Le Bris recognizes that this promising young player will be crucial in maintaining the team’s impressive form.
Bellingham’s performances this season have been notable, though his contributions in terms of goals have been limited to assisting Jack Clarke on the opening day against Cardiff City. Despite not adding to his goal tally, Bellingham has been active, averaging an impressive 7.8 duels won per game. Le Bris is keen to see him add more attacking efforts to his game, as he netted seven league goals for Sunderland last season.
While Eliezer Mayenda and Romaine Mundle have been more prominent in scoring this season, Bellingham continues to develop as a well-rounded midfielder. He will hope to add more goals as the Championship campaign progresses, alongside teammates like Dan Neil and Chris Rigg, who are also capable of threatening defenses.
At one point, Sunderland considered signing former Champions League winner Naby Keita during the transfer window. According to football journalist Ed Aarons, discussions fell through, and Keita is now set to join Istanbul Basaksehir. Though Keita’s time at Liverpool was marred by injury and inconsistency, he had periods of strong performance, including seven goals and five assists in 87 Premier League appearances. His versatility would have been a valuable asset for Sunderland.
Despite the failed move for Keita, Le Bris remains focused on refining his tactics with the current squad during the international break.
