Sunderland’s new signings Abdul Samed and Milan Aleksic have recently been seen on social media at their new club.
The midfield duo joined Sunderland on a bustling deadline day, arriving alongside Wales international Chris Mepham and Ahmed Abdullahi. Their arrivals were officially announced last Saturday morning, and both players are now settling into their new roles. Samed will use the international break to acclimate under Régis Le Bris, while Aleksic will be away on international duty with Serbia.
Ghanaian defensive midfielder Samed made the move from RC Lens, where he had been a regular before losing his spot ahead of the current season. The 24-year-old brings significant top-tier experience, including six Champions League appearances last season. Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman believes Samed will enhance Sunderland’s midfield with his disciplined play and experience in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League. Speakman is confident Samed will adapt well to the challenges of the Championship.
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Aleksic signed a four-year contract from FK Radnicki 1923. Although the transfer fee is undisclosed, Serbian reports suggest Sunderland spent nearly four million euros to acquire the promising midfielder. Aleksic received his first call-up to the senior Serbia squad earlier this year and was a sought-after talent this summer.
Speakman acknowledges that Aleksic will need time to adjust but is optimistic about his future impact. “Milan is an exceptionally talented young player, on the cusp of national team selection,” Speakman said.
