Described as a ‘generational talent,’ Rigg began making waves last season. Team captain Dan Neil shared his initial impressions of Rigg, reflecting on his first training session with the senior team.
In the 72+ EFL Podcast, Neil recalled: “From the moment he joined us for training, about two years ago under Tony Mowbray, even as a 15-year-old, it was clear he was going to be a great player. When a 15-year-old steps up and shows no fear, taking on first-team players and giving it back, everyone recognizes that we’ve got a special talent.”
Rigg now has 25 Championship appearances to his name and recently signed a new contract with Sunderland despite interest from top European clubs.
