Max Wober has reiterated that Leeds United are “clearly” gunning for Premier League promotion this season.
The Whites have undergone a lot of change since the start of the summer transfer window with a lot of new faces being brought into Elland Road.
Daniel Farke’s men have had a stellar start to the 2024/25 campaign as they currently find themselves fourth in the Championship, just four points behind league leaders, Sunderland.
Speaking to Sky Sports Austria (4 September), Wober shared an insight into where his future may lie after being linked with a move away during the summer transfer window.
“I’m at Leeds, that’s a perfect fit for me. I never said that I absolutely wanted to leave,” the Austria international said.
“I accepted this challenge, but I know that it won’t be easy to work my way back to the same position as before.“The chance to play in the Premier League again is huge because on paper we have the best team and a broad squad. Our goal is clearly promotion.”

Although there has been some bad blood between the defender and Leeds’ fans [Yorkshire Evening Post, 8 August] in the past, it now seems as if Wober is more than happy to stay in West Yorkshire.
One of the main problems Daniel Farke faced last season was the number of players who jumped ship as soon as the Whites were relegated.
The vast majority of those brought in to retain Leeds’ Premier League status either gained permanent moves away or just season-long loans.Those who were loaned out then had to be found suitors as they once again didn’t fancy sticking with the challenge and getting Farke and his men back to where they belong.That is, everyone but Wober. That doesn’t mean that there wasn’t interest as Borussia Monchengladbach were more than keen to add the 26-year-old to their ranks on a permanent basis.However, Leeds and the Bundesliga club couldn’t agree to a fee [Rheinische Post, 29 July] and a move never came to fruition.
Wober is yet to have much of an impact on the Leeds squad due to an injury he recently sustained. However, as Joe Rodon has also been brought back permanently, the two could end up forming a solid partnership.
That is if the Austrian can get in over Pascal Struijk, of course.
