JUST IN: Mikel Arteta set to name unseen talent on his Arsenal bench vs Tottenham for the North London Derby

During Arsenal’s international break, the focus will be on the crucial upcoming North London derby in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta faces a challenging situation with squad selection for the derby, as Declan Rice will be unavailable due to suspension after receiving a second yellow card for kicking the ball away against Brighton.

This leaves a void in midfield with limited options available. Jorginho, the natural replacement, has not played at all this season, and Arteta has considered moving Kai Havertz into midfield. Additionally, Arsenal fans might see a surprising choice with a young player potentially making his debut.

Arsenal’s Raheem Sterling, who joined from Chelsea on loan this summer, might be tasked with leading the attack next week. Leandro Trossard is expected to continue on the left, while Bukayo Saka will be on the right. One notable young talent, Oulad M’Hand, is reportedly in line to be named on the substitutes’ bench for the September 15 clash against Tottenham.

Though M’Hand, a 21-year-old central midfielder, has been included in squads before, he is yet to make his debut. His inclusion on the bench makes sense given Rice’s absence, but it’s unlikely he will get minutes unless the match is well in hand, as typically, such high-stakes games are not ideal for introducing young players.

Experience may be crucial, so Jorginho could be preferred either as a starter or off the bench, with Ethan Nwaneri also waiting for his opportunity. Regardless of playing time, just being part of the squad for the North London derby will provide valuable experience for M’Hand.
