Full name Felipe Rodrigues da Silva, Morato was named after his birthplace, Francisco Morato. He joined Benfica in 2019 after progressing through São Paulo’s ranks and made his league debut in 2021. Since then, he has made over 80 appearances for Benfica, contributing to their 2023 Primeira Liga title and gaining Champions League experience.
Morato’s versatility, playing both as a left-back and center-back, fits Forest head coach Nuno EspÃrito Santo’s preference for adaptable players. However, he was often used as a left-back at Benfica due to injuries and a lack of other options, which was not his ideal role.
At Forest, Morato will need to demonstrate patience as he adjusts to English football. His five-year contract, with performance-related add-ons and a 15 percent stake for Benfica in any future sale, gives him time to settle in.
