Sunderland loanee Nectar Triantis has received further acclaim following his recent performance for Hibernian. Scottish pundit Tam McManus praised Triantis after his second debut for Hibs in a 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock.
Triantis, who rejoined Hibs on deadline day after a previous loan spell, was deployed in central midfield and made a strong impression. McManus noted in his Daily Record column that while the initial reaction to Triantis’ return wasn’t overly enthusiastic—highlighting a comical incident from his first stint—he excelled in the holding midfield role on Saturday. McManus also mentioned Triantis’ near miss, where he dribbled past several players and hit the crossbar.
Triantis reflected positively on his performance in an interview with Hibs’ media team, expressing satisfaction with his start and 90 minutes of play. Despite feeling he isn’t yet at his peak, he believes he fulfilled his role well and appreciates the support from the fans, who provided a significant boost with their chanting.
Hibs manager David Gray also praised Triantis, highlighting his effectiveness as a defensive midfielder and his familiarity with the club. Gray noted that Triantis’ experience and quality on the ball make him a valuable addition, and he expects the player to benefit the team as they continue to work together.
