Newcastle United have shifted their focus to one of Norway’s top young talents, Sindre Walle Egeli. Reports from HITC Sport suggest that Newcastle, along with West Ham and Crystal Palace, are closely monitoring the Norwegian prodigy.

Egeli, a forward, first made waves at Sandefjord Fotball, a fourth-tier Norwegian team, where he scored 19 goals in his first 11 professional games at just 15 years old, including five on his debut against Teie IF. His standout performances led to a move to Denmark’s FC Nordsjælland in 2022, where he has continued to impress.

Now 18, Egeli recently joined Erling Haaland in the Norway squad for the UEFA Nations League fixtures. He made his senior debut in a short appearance against Kazakhstan but dreams of partnering with Haaland in the national team.

With 32 goals in 35 appearances for Norway’s youth teams, Egeli has earned praise from manager Peder Jalland, who described him as exceptionally dedicated and hardworking. Ståle Solbakken, his club manager, noted Egeli’s goal-scoring prowess and exceptional left foot, likening him to a “notorious goalscorer.”

Egeli is known for cutting inside from the right wing to score with his left foot, drawing comparisons to Arjen Robben. Though he acknowledges the similarity, he believes he has unique qualities of his own.

Local reports have also likened Egeli to Haaland due to his strong start to the season, with three goals in seven games. Playing as a right winger for FC Nordsjælland, Egeli is also capable of leading the attack as a centre forward.

The interest in Egeli comes as Newcastle seek to strengthen their right-sided attacking options following a failed attempt to sign Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga on deadline day. The Magpies have already added William Osula to their attacking roster to support Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson, whose contract at St James’ Park is expiring.
