"I like Ange, but I have a better chance of winning Strictly" – Arsenal Legend Mocks Postecoglou’s Trophy Claim After Spurs Defeat

Paul Merson has taken a swipe at Ange Postecoglou following his comments about winning silverware at Tottenham after their defeat to Arsenal.

In his first season in charge, Postecoglou led Tottenham to a fifth-place finish, narrowly missing out on a Champions League spot. Despite not qualifying for Europe, the team’s attacking play gave fans hope. With significant investment in player transfers, expectations were high for this season.

However, the campaign hasn’t started as hoped, with only one win from their first four league games. Although Tottenham has dominated matches and created chances, their lack of clinical finishing has cost them, as evidenced by their recent loss to Arsenal.

After the derby defeat, Postecoglou remained upbeat in his press conference, stating that he typically wins trophies in his second year. Merson seized the opportunity to criticize the former Celtic manager, remarking on Sky Sports, “I like Ange, but I have a better chance of winning Strictly Come Dancing.”

While Postecoglou is optimistic about turning things around and securing Tottenham’s first major trophy, Merson remains doubtful. He feels Spurs lack the credentials for a major title this season but suggests they could still contend for a cup. If they can sharpen their finishing, their fortunes might improve.
