Henry Winter has advised Farhad Moshiri that sacking Sean Dyche would be “pointless,” suggesting the decision should be left to the next owner of Everton.
Dyche is under increasing scrutiny from fans and pundits following a winless start to the Premier League season and an early exit from the Carabao Cup against Southampton. However, reports indicate that he still has the support of the club’s board.
In his substack post on September 20, Winter wrote, “Is Sean Dyche a dead man walking? Many Everton fans have turned against him, questioning his tactics and substitutions. He must avoid another disappointing result, especially against Leicester City this Saturday.”
Winter argued that any decision regarding Dyche’s future should wait until the club’s ownership situation is resolved. He noted, “It makes little sense for Everton to make a definitive call on Dyche while ownership is still uncertain. Why would Moshiri pay off a manager when he is preparing to leave?”
Moshiri seems to be on the verge of exiting Goodison Park, and while fans are eager for news on the potential takeover, it appears progress is being made. The current owner lacks the funds for significant changes, and though he could afford to pay Dyche off, he likely won’t want to spend more money on a project he’s leaving behind.
Whether Dyche can survive under new ownership remains unclear, but Moshiri doesn’t see it as his concern. Unless Dyche resigns or the takeover faces complications, it would be surprising to see a change in management while Moshiri is still in charge.
While anything can happen on Merseyside, sacking Dyche would certainly be unexpected.
