(Video) Julen Lopetegui’s Remarks on Slot and Liverpool That Went Under the Radar for Most Fans
Liverpool is preparing to host West Ham at Anfield for their opening match of this season’s Carabao Cup, and Julen Lopetegui has shared his thoughts on the opposition.
In a press conference, the 58-year-old remarked, “First and foremost, Liverpool is a major team globally, and they are being managed by an excellent coach this year. He’s demonstrating his commitment to continuing the work from previous seasons and implementing his own style, which is unique to each coach. I believe they are performing very well.”

Lopetegui’s comments reflect both admiration for the Reds and for Jurgen Klopp, particularly as he navigates a challenging start at the London Stadium.
West Ham’s 2024/25 Premier League campaign has certainly been tough. The Hammers’ fixture schedule has not been kind, with their opening five matches including encounters against Aston Villa (a 2-1 loss), Manchester City (3-1 defeat), and Chelsea (3-0 defeat). This challenging slate has made for a rocky return to English football for Lopetegui after taking over from David Moyes in the summer.
From Liverpool’s perspective, the goal will be to further extend West Ham’s struggles on Wednesday night. Here’s hoping the Reds can validate Lopetegui’s praise and secure a strong start to their League Cup defense.
