Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has praised Mikey Moore’s “amazing quality,” expressing his belief that the 17-year-old will become “one of the top players.” Moore, highly regarded at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, is already included in Ange Postecoglou’s plans despite his young age.
After making two substitute appearances for the senior team last season, Moore featured briefly in last weekend’s victory over Brentford and may see more playing time in the Europa League. Son has been impressed by Moore’s performance in training, noting that the young left-winger often seeks his guidance.
“Yeah, he’s a fantastic boy, and coming from the academy, we take extra care of him,” Son said during a press conference ahead of the Qarabag match. “Everyone is very welcoming, and I want to help him because he’s such a lovely kid who works hard every day. It’s not easy coming into the first team at his age; it can be intimidating.
“But he’s showing great personality and determination, which is important. I remember when I was young, Ruud van Nistelrooy helped me a lot during my time in Hamburg. Now I want to be that person for him, sharing advice since we play similar positions.”
Son added that Moore frequently approaches him with questions, which he enjoys. “I have no doubt he will become a fantastic player because he has such incredible talent. However, we must not put too much pressure on him; let’s appreciate his development as a player and enjoy watching him grow.”
As a key member of Postecoglou’s team, Son has played both on the left wing and as a striker. He noted that the manager’s system requires players to adapt. “It’s crucial to adjust, but that doesn’t mean I have to stay wide all the time. In the last game, I made some inside runs when the situation allowed.”
Regarding teammate Dejan Kulusevski, Son remarked, “Deki prefers to operate more centrally, and he’s having a great season. His work rate is phenomenal—he’s everywhere on the pitch, which often goes unnoticed. I’m amazed by the data that shows how much he runs; it seems like he never stops.”
Son emphasized that Kulusevski’s versatility allows him to excel in various positions, making him an asset to the team. “He’s doing an incredible job right now, and everyone appreciates his contributions.”
