“Peter Crouch Makes Bold Europa League Prediction for Spurs Fans—But the Premier League Outlook Is Bleak
Peter Crouch has labeled Tottenham Hotspur as the “favourites” to win this season’s Europa League.
Despite being in contention for a top-four finish at various points last season, Spurs ultimately ended up fifth in the Premier League during Ange Postecoglou’s first year in charge.
This means they face a competitive Europa League field, including heavyweights like Manchester United, Roma, Athletic Club, Porto, Ajax, Lazio, and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Crouch’s comments come as Tottenham’s 2024/25 Premier League campaign has started slowly, with losses to Arsenal and Newcastle and a draw against Leicester, leaving them with just seven points from five matches, having only secured wins against Everton and Brentford.
Fans might feel disheartened that Crouch has already dismissed their chances in the Premier League title race and is skeptical about a top-four finish. However, a successful run in the Europa League could overshadow a lackluster league performance, as it would mark the club’s first major trophy in 16 years and their first European title since 1984.
“The Premier League doesn’t seem achievable — perhaps top four is possible,” Crouch stated on TNT Sports (via BBC Sports). “But they are favourites in this competition, and as they progress, Tottenham will have a chance to make a significant impact.”
