“Revealed: Pundit Predicts Jaw-Dropping Price Tag for Sunderland’s Chris Rigg as Man United Eye Move
Manchester United is among the clubs linked to Sunderland’s Chris Rigg, who has made a strong start to the season.
In recent months, the 17-year-old Rigg has attracted interest from several top European teams. However, he signed a professional contract with Sunderland over the summer, committing to the club until 2027.
Under manager Regis Le Bris, Rigg has become a crucial player, featuring in all six Championship matches this season and starting the last five. He scored his first goal of the season in a 1-0 victory against Middlesbrough with a back-heel finish.
While Real Madrid has also shown interest, reports suggest Manchester United could pursue Rigg as soon as January.
Speculation about his transfer fee is growing among fans. Given Rigg’s age, talent, and potential, some believe his valuation could reach around £40 million, though Sunderland’s owners might have a different starting point.
Pundit Carlton Palmer commented, “Considering Sunderland’s sale of Jack Clarke, they might seek around £25 million plus add-ons for Rigg. He has a tremendous future, and Sunderland won’t settle for anything less; it will be significant money.”
Sunderland sold Jack Clarke to Ipswich Town for an initial £13.5 million, potentially rising to £20 million. However, since no major clubs were interested in Clarke, Sunderland’s bargaining power was limited.
