“Sunderland Loan Star Breaks Down: ‘I Felt Immense Shame’ After Humiliating 8-0 Loss!”

While Regis Le Bris has Sunderland performing well at the top of the Championship table, one former Black Cat is facing tougher times.

Amid the attention on Sunderland’s sale of Jack Clarke this summer, they also allowed midfielder Pierre Ekwah to leave for Saint-Etienne, where he had been a regular starter.

Ekwah joined Saint-Etienne on loan with an option to buy and played against Nice in Ligue 1 last week. Unfortunately, it was a disastrous match for Les Verts, who found themselves 6-0 down by halftime and ultimately lost 8-0. Ekwah expressed his deep disappointment after the game.

“When we left the field, we felt immense shame,” the midfielder said at a press conference. “After such a score, it’s impossible to be satisfied.”

Ekwah emphasized that Saint-Etienne must return to basics, focusing on solid defense, starting with their upcoming match against Nantes.

“We need to reinforce our defense. We’ve analyzed our mistakes on video and are working to correct them in training. The key is hard work while maintaining confidence in our abilities,” he added.
