Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou hasn’t dismissed the possibility of young midfielder Mikey Moore starting his first Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday, due to captain Heung-min Son’s injury concerns.
Son is dealing with a hamstring issue, casting doubt on his availability. Postecoglou remains hopeful about Son’s recovery, noting that the forward is keen to train on Saturday, but a final decision will be made closer to the match.
With Son’s potential absence, along with that of attackers Wilson Odobert and Richarlison, Tottenham’s attacking options are limited. Postecoglou acknowledged the challenge and suggested that Moore, along with Dejan Kulusevski and Timo Werner, could step in to fill the gap. He stated, “Timo and Mikey can certainly come into the frame. We have Deki Kulusevski who can play wide as well, so we’ve got some options, but first we’ll see how Sonny is.”
At just 17, Moore’s inclusion in the matchday squad would mark a significant milestone in his development. The England U17 international has been impressive in the Tottenham youth setup, scoring 14 goals and providing 8 assists in just 12 U18 Premier League matches last season. His strong performances led to a spot in first-team training towards the end of last season, catching Postecoglou’s attention.
