He is certainly a skilled player, but it’s difficult to find many who would argue that he’s currently superior to Arsenal’s highly-rated key star, William Saliba”- Pundit argues that Tottenham star surpasses key Arsenal player after outstanding display against United.
Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven is considered by former Spurs player Jamie O’Hara to be superior to Arsenal’s William Saliba.
Van de Ven has been earning accolades following his impressive assist during Tottenham’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United, where he showcased his speed and strength by running nearly the entire length of the pitch before setting up Brennan Johnson for the opening goal.
While some may feel it’s premature to label Van de Ven one of the best centre-backs in the world—especially when compared to Saliba, who has been a reliable and consistent performer for Arsenal over the past couple of years—O’Hara remains confident in his assessment.
### Is Van de Ven Really Better Than Saliba?
Van de Ven is undoubtedly a talented player, but many would likely disagree with the claim that he surpasses Saliba at this point. Arsenal supporters are unlikely to trade the Frenchman, as he and Gabriel Magalhaes have transformed Mikel Arteta’s squad into one of the toughest defenses in Europe.
Nonetheless, Tottenham can be pleased with Van de Ven’s contributions. The 23-year-old continues to improve and appears poised to help Spurs become serious contenders for a top-four finish.
Having previously excelled at Wolfsburg, Van de Ven’s signing seems like a savvy move by Tottenham, especially as other top European clubs might now regret missing the opportunity to acquire him sooner.
