13/15 duels won, 3/3 dribbles, 9 recovery”- Exceptional 28-year-old has been inconsistent with his performances at Spurs, but he showed his class against Ferencvaros, winning 11 out of 15 duels contested. He also made 9 recoveries with 100% of his take-ons won.

Tottenham Hotspur maintained their perfect record in the Europa League with a 2-1 victory over Ferencvaros on the road Thursday night.

Manager Ange Postecoglou made seven changes to the starting lineup from the 3-0 Premier League win at Manchester United, including giving competitive debuts to four teenagers, one of whom was Will Lankshear.

Despite the changes, Tottenham had a relatively comfortable match. Their midfield dominance was evident, largely thanks to Yves Bissouma, who delivered an impressive performance at the Groupama Arena in Hungary.

The 28-year-old, who has been inconsistent at Spurs, shone against Ferencvaros, winning 11 of 15 duels and making nine recoveries, with a 100% success rate on his take-ons. He also registered three interceptions, two clearances, and completed 89% of his passes.

It was a significant evening for the former Brighton & Hove Albion player. While it may not secure him a starting spot against his former club this weekend, he could still see valuable minutes off the bench.

Bissouma’s inconsistency has been a concern during his time in London. When in form, he is a force, and it’s crucial for him to deliver consistent standout performances to gain the manager’s trust.

Spurs are currently in good form, having won five consecutive matches across all competitions. Brennan Johnson has been a standout player, netting five goals in as many games, including the decisive goal in the 86th minute of this match.

Postecoglou is likely to return to the same lineup that defeated United when the team travels to the South Coast on Sunday. Spurs are just three points off the Champions League places and have a chance to narrow that gap with another win.

The upcoming October international break may be poorly timed for Spurs, who seem to be hitting their stride under Postecoglou.
