They deserve it”- Spurs Fans Will go Crazy about what this former Mourinho favourite said about club Future

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga believes it’s only a matter of time before the club breaks its trophy drought.

Having come through the Spurs youth system in 2019, Tanganga quickly gained favor with former manager Jose Mourinho. However, he struggled to establish himself fully at the club and ultimately left for Millwall after a loan spell, following a stint at FC Augsburg in Germany.

In an interview with Italian outlet Gianluca Di Marzio (translated by Football.London), Tanganga expressed that Tottenham will always hold a special place in his heart. “Tottenham will always be my first home, and I’ll always cherish it,” he said. “I had already come to terms with leaving to seek more playing time, but saying goodbye was still tough.”

Tanganga, who earned an EFL Cup runner-up medal during his time at Spurs, was unable to help the team end their trophy drought, which dates back to their last major win in 2008. However, he believes Spurs deserve to lift silverware and is optimistic about their future. “I still follow them closely and support my former teammates,” the 25-year-old noted. “I’m confident they will reach a final again and win; they deserve it.”

Since making his move to Millwall permanent, Tanganga has started seven Championship matches, contributing to the team’s current position in 18th place.
