“The Real Story Behind Kudus’ €100 Million Price Tag—Prepare to Be Surprised!

At West Ham, we’ve witnessed the rise of a genuine world-class attacker. Mohammed Kudus joined from Ajax for around £37 million, initially an unfamiliar name to many, but he arrived with a reputation as a promising talent when signed in the summer of 2023.

This signing was somewhat unexpected and adventurous for a typically cautious David Moyes, who usually opts for established players. Given Kudus’s youth and relative anonymity, I was surprised he passed Moyes’s evaluation; it seems more likely that he was influenced by Tim Steidten.

Now, stories are flooding the media with headlines like “West Ham Sets Huge Price for Arsenal Target” and “Barcelona Prepares Bid,” as reports claim the club has placed a €100 million price tag on Kudus to deter potential suitors.

These claims originate from the Spanish outlet fichajes.net, which published an article this morning titled “The Crazy Price at Which West Ham Could Sell Kudus.” The article notes that major clubs such as Barcelona, Liverpool, and Manchester City have shown interest in the forward. Kudus’s market value has surged recently, and his ability to perform in crucial matches has elevated him to star status in the Premier League. While interested teams are ready to make strong bids, West Ham is determined to keep him.

In response to the increased interest, West Ham has reportedly set Kudus’s release price at €100 million.

However, there’s no indication of new developments: no bids or statements from West Ham or other parties. It’s widely known that Kudus had an £85 million release clause that expired in July 2024 and will not be active again until next summer. Therefore, any interested parties would need to pay that £85 million, which is approximately €100 million.

In short, there’s nothing new to report, and the situation remains unchanged since July 2024. The release clause, previously kept under wraps, will become widely known and active again next summer.

We’ve consistently suggested that Kudus could leave if a significant offer comes in—see last month’s article on “Life Without the Superstars.” Of course, many factors could change between now and next summer, and his performance in that time will heavily influence the value of any potential bids.
