Patrick Bamford is reportedly eager to leave Leeds United at the end of the season in search of more first-team opportunities, according to former scout Mick Brown.
Since joining from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018, Bamford has experienced notable highs at Elland Road, scoring 16 goals during Leeds’ promotion campaign and 17 in their first Premier League season. However, injuries and a decline in form have caused him to fall down the ranks. This season, he has only played 42 minutes in the Championship across four substitute appearances.
At 31, Bamford knows he needs to act quickly if he wants to regain his status as a regular starter in England’s top two divisions. Leeds has already been linked with Danish striker Adam Daghim from RB Salzburg as a potential replacement, leveraging their partnership with the Red Bull network to bolster their attack.
### Bamford’s Urgency to Move
Brown, who has worked with managers like Sir Alex Ferguson, believes Bamford will be “desperate to leave” Elland Road for regular playing time. “I’ve heard he wants to move,” Brown stated to Football Insider. “Having been there for a while, a change of scenery might appeal to him. If he’s not playing consistently, I can see him wanting to leave.”
Frustration from sitting on the bench is likely for Bamford, who is accustomed to being a regular starter. Brown suggests Leeds may also be willing to part ways with him due to his lackluster record and recent injury issues. “Leeds aims for promotion and a strong Premier League presence, and he hasn’t met those expectations in the past.”
Brown believes it’s time for both Bamford and Leeds to part ways, although he anticipates that any move would be downward rather than upward. “He’s been an underachiever in his career. If he does leave, it will probably happen at the end of the season, as he still has a role to play for now.”
