“It’s a significant step forward.” Steve Cooper’s recent comments suggest that a change at Leicester City, which fans have been requesting, will be implemented.

Steve Cooper appears to have learned from a previous issue at Leicester City as he prepares to face Nottingham Forest, his former club.

Leicester City is looking to build on their impressive 3-2 comeback win against Southampton, where they overcame a two-goal deficit. Several players shone in that match, notably Jamie Vardy, who made a crucial contribution from the penalty spot, and Facundo Buonanotte, who scored again. Abdul Fatawu also made a significant impact off the bench by providing an assist.

Cooper’s recent comments suggest he is considering a decision regarding Fatawu that fans have long anticipated.

Cooper’s Praise for Fatawu

Ghanaian winger Fatawu started the first three Premier League matches of the 2024/25 season but failed to make a notable impact, leaving the Foxes with just one point. However, his performance in the win against Southampton may have changed Cooper’s mind.

In his pre-match press conference, Cooper praised Fatawu, stating, “He did great at the weekend and showed his best performance in the Premier League so far. We know he can reach that level, and we’ve seen glimpses of it in training. He took his chance and changed the game. It’s important to understand what he did well and replicate it. Young players need to seize their opportunities, and he did just that. He’s an integral part of our culture and very well-liked by the team.”

Leicester City’s Improved Wide Options

Despite a slow start to the season, Leicester’s recent performances indicate they are improving. Much of this can be attributed to Buonanotte, who has consistently made a difference, including scoring the decisive goal in the 1-0 victory against Bournemouth, securing their first win of the campaign.

With both Buonanotte and an in-form Fatawu, Leicester could pose a significant threat this season. If they can replicate their strong performances against Nottingham Forest, they might be in for a successful night at the King Power Stadium.
