“Nuno’s Stunning Response to Chris Wood’s Contract Situation: Nottingham Forest Star Receives ‘Huge Respect’! What’s the chances of him staying???
According to Nuno Espirito Santo, discussions about Chris Wood’s future will not distract the in-form striker from his role at Nottingham Forest.
The club is negotiating a new contract for Wood, whose current deal expires at the end of the season. If all goes well, he could secure an extension of up to two-and-a-half years.
These talks come as the 32-year-old enjoys a strong run of form, having scored a brace in last Friday’s 3-1 victory over Leicester City, bringing his total to seven goals this season. Wood’s recent hot streak, with four goals in three matches, has earned him a nomination for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for October.
Nuno has been tight-lipped about Wood’s contract situation but emphasized the “huge respect” he commands at the City Ground for his contributions.
“Nothing changes,” Nuno said regarding the potential new deal. “Chris is doing fantastic for us, and that’s what matters—his goals and his overall work. Everything will happen naturally.
“He has earned a great deal of respect from all of us because he is a top professional. He consistently delivers and is always looking to score. His movement is excellent, and he has been well-supported by his teammates.
“We are delighted with him. He is highly respected and admired among us.”
In addition, goalkeeper Matz Sels is also up for the Premier League Player of the Month award, while Nuno is in the running for Manager of the Month after leading the team to seventh in the league ahead of Saturday’s match against West Ham United.
