Nottingham Forest aims for their second consecutive home victory in the Premier League on Saturday as they face West Ham United.
Nuno Espirito Santo is hoping for some last-minute injury updates before the match at the City Ground, as Forest is dealing with several injury concerns. Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White are both set to be late fitness tests due to their respective injuries. With Wood in excellent form, the team is optimistic about his availability for the game.
Although James Ward-Prowse cannot play against West Ham due to them being his parent club, Forest will encounter a familiar face in Michail Antonio.
Antonio left Forest in 2015 for West Ham after a successful season, contributing 19 goals and 15 assists in 54 appearances before the club sold him for a significant profit. This past summer, Forest considered bringing him back as they struggled to secure a striker.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Saturday’s match, Antonio reflected on his time at Forest. “Unbelievable! It was an incredible year, and I enjoyed every moment. The fans were fantastic, and I always look forward to returning to the City Ground,” he said.
Despite being West Ham’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League, Antonio is not entering this game on a high note, having only one goal from his first ten appearances this season. With eight league starts this season, he is likely to start on Saturday.
However, he assured Sky Sports that if he scores, he would not celebrate against Forest due to his fond memories with the club. “I’ll never celebrate against them. The year I had there shaped me as a player, and I have great respect for the club. Even after ten years, I will never celebrate,” Antonio stated.
