Massive Boost to Spurs”- A Sensational 23-year-old Striker, recently praised by Roy Keane for his “pure quality,” is now reportedly eager to make a Premier League move, as Tottenham Hotspur expressing interest.
Angelo Gomes is drawing significant attention from top European clubs as his contract with Lille is set to expire next summer.
In an ironic twist, Manchester United are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing him once he becomes a free agent—five years after they allowed him to leave for nothing.
At the time, the 19-year-old turned down a new deal at Old Trafford, determined to advance his career by securing regular first-team football, which he wasn’t getting at United. Gomes made just 10 appearances for the club before moving to Ligue 1. He made history with his debut, becoming the youngest player since Duncan Edwards to play for United, and the first player born in the 2000s to feature for the senior team.
Gomes’ Journey Since Leaving United
A successful loan spell at Boavista helped kickstart Gomes’ career, and upon returning to Lille, he quickly became a key figure in their midfield. His development has continued to accelerate since then.
Gomes played a crucial role in England’s U21 Euro Championship victory last year, leading to manager Lee Carsley calling him up for the senior team when he took on the interim role. Since his senior debut in September, Gomes has earned three international caps, with Roy Keane praising his “pure quality” after watching him play for England.
Given his impressive performances, it’s no surprise that clubs are beginning to take notice, especially with Gomes set to be available for free if he doesn’t sign a new deal with Lille.
According to GiveMeSport, Gomes is now eager to return to the Premier League and prove himself with more experience. However, Manchester United will face stiff competition from Tottenham Hotspur, with Liverpool also reportedly interested in the 28-year-old.
