Why would a former Spurs player back Arsenal’s pursuit of Isak? Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Tim Sherwood, speaking to Premier League Productions, suggested that Isak would be a perfect fit for Arsenal.
“It was an outstanding header from a player who should be wearing an Arsenal shirt,” Sherwood said. “He’s a great striker who can play in a number of roles. He’s flexible, can score different types of goals, and his ability to bring others into play is exactly what Arsenal need. But getting him from Newcastle will be very difficult.”
It’s odd to hear a former Spurs player advocating for Arsenal to land such a talent—maybe Sherwood’s just feeling generous, but the Gunners won’t be too keen on his praise!
Isak’s future at Newcastle looks secure—for now While Arsenal may remain interested in Isak, it’s hard to see him leaving Newcastle anytime soon. The Gunners would need to offer over £100 million to convince the Magpies to part with their prized asset.
Eddie Howe has made it clear that he has no intention of selling Isak unless a truly irresistible offer comes in. The club rejected bids for him in the summer, and with Newcastle currently on an upward trajectory, aiming for a return to the Champions League and a strong cup run, it seems unlikely Howe’s stance will change.
Of course, if Isak himself expresses a desire to leave, that could shift the situation. But for now, with Newcastle’s ambitions growing, we believe the Swedish striker will remain at St James’ Park.
