“I will go back” – Victor Osimhen Drops Bombshell on His True Intentions Towards Spurs, but Falls Short
Victor Osimhen was the standout performer in Galatasaray’s hard-fought victory over the North London side, scoring twice to secure the win. This was the first time in his career that the reigning African Footballer of the Year scored a brace in the first half of a European competition.
After Yunus Akgün’s early goal was canceled out by Will Lankshear, Osimhen put Galatasaray back in the lead in the 31st minute. He finished clinically with a first-time shot after being set up by Dries Mertens. Just eight minutes later, in the 39th minute, Osimhen doubled the advantage with a well-timed header, expertly guiding the ball into the net with his left foot from close range.
Despite his crucial brace and opening his Europa League account for the season, the Napoli loanee was frustrated for not scoring a hat-trick. Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Osimhen said, “I could have had, I think, four goals. In the final minutes, I lost a bit of focus, and I was angry with myself. It’s normal, but I’ll watch the footage and work on improving.”
Galatasaray’s victory lifts them above Tottenham Hotspur in the group standings, with ten points from four matches. Osimhen is confident that his team has the quality to progress further in the competition.
“As a squad, we have the ability to keep pushing forward and build on this momentum,” he said. “Today’s win is huge for us, and I believe we have what it takes to go further and aim for the Europa League title. It won’t be easy, as we’ll face tough opposition, but we’re ready for any challenge that comes our way.”
