“Ruud van Nistelrooy BREAKS SILENCE on his Man United stint after stunning 3-0 victory over Leicester
Manchester United’s interim manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy, has praised his players for their efforts in turning the team’s fortunes around during his short time in charge.
Van Nistelrooy was appointed caretaker manager following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag last month amid a string of disappointing results and performances. Over his four-match tenure, he led the team to three wins and one draw.
With Ruben Amorim set to officially take over as manager on Monday, uncertainty surrounds Van Nistelrooy’s future at the club. The Dutchman has expressed his desire to remain at United as part of Amorim’s coaching staff, and discussions between the two are reportedly scheduled for tomorrow at Carrington.
After overseeing a resounding 3-0 victory over Leicester City, which could potentially have been his final game as interim boss, Van Nistelrooy was seen soaking in the appreciation from the fans. In his post-match interview with BBC, he shared his thoughts on the team’s performance and his brief spell in charge.
“It was a professional performance, and you could see the players were fighting throughout the game,” Van Nistelrooy said. “We scored two excellent goals, though we didn’t have full control of the match. But the three points were crucial.”
He also singled out Bruno Fernandes for his contributions. “In the four games, Bruno scored some important goals and provided assists. He’s back to his best, and that’s been a big help for the team.”
Van Nistelrooy revealed that he had spoken to Alejandro Garnacho before the match, encouraging him to make an impact from the bench, which he did. “We said, ‘Let’s make the most of these four games,’ and I think we did a decent job,” he added.
Reflecting on his time at the club, Van Nistelrooy said, “It’s been a short but rewarding period. We were in an uncertain situation, but we did our best to help the club. The support from the fans, especially during tough moments, was really special. To finish this stretch with good results and a strong connection with the supporters means a lot to me. I can’t thank them enough.”
Looking ahead, Van Nistelrooy added, “Now we’ll see what the next steps are as we move forward.”
Manchester United’s next match is against Ipswich Town on November 24, following the international break.
