“New Alexander Isak Footage Drops – £84m Star Could Be Key to Newcastle’s Future as Arsenal Links Heat Up
Alexander Isak played a key role in Sweden’s 2-1 victory over Slovakia on the weekend, scoring and providing an assist. The Newcastle United striker set up Viktor Gyokeres for the opening goal early in the match, and then added a composed finish early in the second half to make it 2-1. Isak’s performance extended his impressive run, as he has now scored in each of his last five appearances for both club and country. Sweden will face Azerbaijan in their final Nations League group match on Tuesday before Isak returns to Newcastle for their Premier League clash with West Ham United next Monday.
Isak has been in prolific form against West Ham, netting five goals in his last three meetings with the Hammers in the Premier League.
After Isak’s standout performance against Slovakia, highlights of his display went viral on social media, with many Newcastle fans praising him as ‘immense’ and a ‘complete striker.’ Arsenal fans have also shared the clips, expressing hope that their club might target Isak in future transfer windows. Although Arsenal have long been interested in Isak, manager Mikel Arteta declined to comment on any intentions to sign a player like him after Isak’s match-winning goal for Newcastle in a 1-0 win earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Isak’s partnership with Gyokeres is also attracting attention. Gyokeres, who currently plays for Sporting, has been in sensational form this season, scoring 28 goals in just 23 matches. With a release clause of £84 million, the former Coventry and Brighton forward’s future is uncertain, as he has not ruled out a move at the end of the season.
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has advised his former club to consider signing Gyokeres, who has been in red-hot form at Sporting. “There’s Viktor Gyokeres smashing goals in left, right and centre,” Shearer said. “Manchester United may be eyeing Ruben Amorim, but he won’t be signing players from his former club in January. You’ve got to target the best, and right now, Gyokeres is the best option. Newcastle should definitely make an enquiry.”
