Marko Stamenic, who joined Nottingham Forest this summer, acknowledges that he must continue developing his skills before he’s ready to play in the Premier League. The midfielder completed a move from Red Star Belgrade to the City Ground in June, but immediately after signing a five-year deal, he was loaned out to Olympiacos, another club owned by Evangelos Marinakis.
Since joining the Greek side, Stamenic has made seven league appearances, with four starts. The 22-year-old is focused on using this time to gain valuable experience and further his development ahead of a potential future at Forest.
“There are small details to refine in my game as I’m still young,” Stamenic told the New Zealand Herald. “I need to keep learning—get stronger, fitter, faster—and build the physicality required to succeed as a midfielder in the Premier League.”
He continued, recognizing the step up to England’s top flight: “The Premier League is the best league in the world. It’s faster, players are stronger, and technically more advanced, so I need this time to be ready for it. Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos share the same mentality, vision, and playing style, which will help me adapt more easily when I eventually join Forest.”
Stamenic also emphasized his commitment to improving: “I’m always critical of my game and training, constantly working on the small details to improve each day.”
