David Moyes to Everton? Ex-West Ham Boss ‘Serious Contender’ as Takeover Saga Unfolds
Former West Ham United manager David Moyes is reportedly being considered for a return to Premier League management, with Everton emerging as a potential destination.
Moyes, who became a hero at West Ham during two separate stints, guided the club to victory in the 2022/23 UEFA Europa Conference League. However, his contract expired at the end of last season, and West Ham decided to part ways with the 61-year-old to usher in a new era under Julen Lopetegui. As West Ham currently sit 14th in the Premier League with 12 points from 36, questions remain over whether this decision was the right one.
Meanwhile, Moyes is now being linked with a return to Everton, where he spent over a decade in management before moving to Manchester United in 2013. According to The Sun, the Scotsman is being considered to replace Sean Dyche at Goodison Park, particularly with the club under new American ownership. The Friedkin Group, which owns AS Roma, is in the process of acquiring a controlling stake in Everton.
Moyes’ impressive record at both Everton and West Ham makes him a strong candidate to return to his former club. However, any potential move would hinge on Dyche’s future, as Everton currently sit 15th in the league, just one point behind West Ham.
The challenge of managing Everton is said to be an ‘appealing’ prospect for Moyes, provided he is given the right assurances regarding his contract, the new ownership, the club’s ambitions, and the transfer budget available.
