Everton takeover: the Friedkin Group immediate plans that will ‘come as a disappointment to fans’

The Friedkin Group (TFG) plans to focus on addressing administrative positions at Everton after their takeover is completed, rather than making an immediate decision on manager Sean Dyche’s future.

Dyche has faced mounting criticism from some fans following Everton’s 0-0 draw against Brentford at Goodison Park. Despite the Bees playing with 10 men for more than half the match, Everton couldn’t find a way to score, and the game ended with boos from the crowd. The Toffees have now gone three consecutive games without scoring and have won only two of their 12 Premier League matches this season, leaving them in 15th place, just two points above the relegation zone.

TFG is in the process of acquiring Everton from majority owner Farhad Moshiri, with the takeover expected to be completed by next month, pending regulatory approval. While Dyche’s contract is in its final year, some fans have called for TFG, led by Texan billionaire Dan Friedkin, to make a managerial change. However, according to Sky Sports, TFG is currently focused on completing the takeover and reorganizing Everton’s leadership, which may disappoint many fans.

An interim board has been in place for almost 18 months, with Colin Chong serving as CEO while also overseeing the club’s stadium development at Bramley-Moore Dock. Reports indicate that Dyche still has the support of Moshiri and the current board. Since taking over in January 2023, Dyche managed to keep Everton in the Premier League despite financial constraints and an eight-point deduction last season due to breaches of profit and sustainability rules.
