“Sheffield United Star Sends Bold Promotion Warning to Leeds and Sunderland, Declares His Team the ‘Best’ in the Championship
Sheffield United climbed to the top of the Championship table on Tuesday, although Leeds United could surpass them later this evening. Callum O’Hare and his Sheffield United teammates are confident they are part of the league’s best team after overtaking Leeds into first place.
The Blades secured top spot with a straightforward 3-0 victory over Oxford United, with goals from Callum O’Hare, Tyreese Campbell, and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi at Bramall Lane. Both Sheffield United and Burnley picked up wins, while Sunderland drew with West Brom, pushing Leeds down to fourth place. Although Daniel Farke’s Leeds can reclaim first position with a win against Luton Town this evening, O’Hare believes Sheffield United are the league’s top team. The summer signing also issued a warning to Leeds, Sunderland, and Burnley, insisting there’s still “more to come.”
When asked if the squad sees themselves as the best in the division, O’Hare told The Star, “We believe we are the best within our group. We’re not sure about others’ views, but we know what we’re capable of. There’s definitely more to come from all of us. We’re playing well and getting results, but we can still improve. Hopefully, we’ll continue to build momentum and keep putting together strong runs.” O’Hare added that Sheffield United are currently on a six-match unbeaten streak, with five wins and one draw. “We have a great team, excellent coaching, and amazing fans pushing us forward,” he said. “It’s clearly working, and we aim to keep it going.”
Leeds will be looking to reclaim top spot later tonight and may also assert their claim as the Championship’s best team. Their convincing 2-0 victory over Sheffield United last month strengthened this belief, with Chris Wilder praising Leeds after the defeat. “They were superior in every area,” he acknowledged. “They won the first balls, fought for second balls, and played quicker and sharper. They were more of an attacking threat, while we only had glimpses of the game. I have no complaints about the result.”
Wilder also praised Leeds’ squad, saying it’s full of exceptional players. “We knew Leeds were the best team we’ve faced so far,” he admitted.
Leeds have frequently received praise from opposition managers, with Wilder noting earlier that the squad was more than capable of securing promotion. Rob Edwards, Luton Town’s manager, echoed these sentiments, calling Farke’s side the best in the league.
