Major Setback”- Injury rocks Newcastle United Star at Crystal Palace as striker leaves pitch in pain

Newcastle United were dealt a blow just 21 minutes into their match at Selhurst Park when £63million striker Alexander Isak was forced to leave the field with an injury. While it’s unclear whether the injury will have serious consequences for Isak, it didn’t look promising as he limped off the pitch.

The Sweden international had only touched the ball three times before a challenge from Tyrick Mitchell led to his early exit. Moments after the collision, Isak was clutching his hip and struggled to move freely.

After receiving treatment and with Callum Wilson warming up on the sidelines, Isak attempted to shake off the injury. However, as Joelinton received attention for a shoulder issue, Isak collapsed in pain and signaled to the bench to be substituted.

With Wilson still not fully match fit to play a full 70 minutes, Harvey Barnes was brought on to replace Isak, with Barnes moving to the right and Anthony Gordon playing through the center.

Having just regained Wilson’s availability, manager Eddie Howe could now face another setback with Isak’s potential absence as the busy December schedule approaches. Isak has already missed seven matches this season due to a toe injury, which was aggravated after he was rushed back into action. Last season, groin issues disrupted his campaign, preventing Newcastle from fielding their strongest XI consistently. Additionally, both Joelinton and Joe Willock sustained injuries in the first half, leaving Newcastle looking vulnerable early on at Selhurst Park.
