“Controversial Warning To Everton”- Hojlund sends Everton player ‘warning’ ahead of Man Utd clash as text message revealed
Rasmus Højlund has issued a warning to an Everton player ahead of their upcoming match against Manchester United.
On Thursday, Ruben Amorim achieved his first victory as United’s manager, leading his team to a 3-2 comeback win over Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa League.
Now, Amorim will aim for his first Premier League win when United host their North West rivals, Everton, at Old Trafford on Sunday.
For his part, Danish striker Højlund will be eager to continue his strong recent form, having scored twice in the Bodo/Glimt match. Ahead of Sunday’s fixture, Everton’s Jesper Lindstrøm shared a light-hearted exchange with Højlund, revealing that the United striker jokingly sent him a warning.
Lindstrøm told the Daily Mail, “I texted him after the game to congratulate him on his two goals but told him not to score this weekend. He replied saying he’d do his best to score.”
Lindstrøm also reflected on Højlund’s early struggles before making a name for himself in Italy. He said, “I’ve known him since he was about 10. At that time, he didn’t seem like much. His Danish team didn’t believe in him, so he moved to a club in Austria, where he excelled, then went to Italy and continued his success. There’s a good reason Rasmus is in Manchester – he’s a talented player with qualities, as shown by his finishes on Thursday.”
Having faced initial difficulties adapting to English football, Lindstrøm is confident that he’ll improve with more playing time. “As I get more minutes, I’m finding my rhythm. I no longer get cramps at 60 minutes, so I feel better and just need to perfect the final moments. I’ll do everything I can to ensure they buy me. I really like it here—the training, the privacy, and the lifestyle. Hopefully, they’ll decide to buy me, but I need to prove I’m good enough.”
