Everton have gone five Premier League games without a win, and the pressure could mount on the Toffees before the year ends.
Currently sitting 15th in the league with 11 points, things aren’t looking promising for manager Sean Dyche. Everton suffered a 4-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, marking their sixth loss of the season.
The team has failed to score in their last four matches, and the fans are growing increasingly frustrated with the lackluster performances on the pitch.
While Alan Myers has suggested that Dyche’s job isn’t under immediate threat, the situation could change in the coming weeks once the Friedkin Group takes over.
In recent seasons, Everton have narrowly avoided relegation, and former manager David Moyes believes they have enough quality to stay up, but they must start winning games. On Match of the Day 2, Moyes said, “I think Everton have got enough to stay out of it, but they need to win the games they can. Today’s game against Manchester United was always going to be tough, and Dyche acknowledged that. But they conceded goals they wouldn’t normally give away. They need to be much stronger defensively and improve their set-pieces, which have been good in recent seasons, both defensively and offensively.”
Everton’s upcoming fixtures are challenging. Their record at Old Trafford isn’t strong, and few expected them to take points from Manchester United.
Next up, Everton will face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park, a must-win match for the Toffees. After failing to beat Brentford at home, they cannot afford another slip-up against Wolves.
Following that, they will play Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Nottingham Forest. Even the most optimistic fans would struggle to see how Everton could win any of these matches given their current form.
If the takeover goes through, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Friedkin Group decides to appoint a new manager.
