Leicester City ended their winless streak with a dominant 3-1 victory over West Ham United.
The Foxes took an early lead within the first two minutes, as Jamie Vardy calmly slotted the ball past Lukasz Fabianski. However, West Ham responded well and could feel unlucky to be trailing at halftime.
The second half was a completely different affair, with Leicester taking control. They added two more goals, securing a much-needed three points.
Vardy’s performance was widely praised by West Ham fans, along with Mads Hermansen, who made a remarkable seven saves to keep his team in the game at key moments.
Leicester’s manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy, also singled out another standout performer—Bilal El Khannouss. The 20-year-old, who was signed from Genk for £21m during the summer transfer window, had largely been underused by Steve Cooper until this match. His excellent performance against West Ham, which included a goal and an assist, highlighted his potential.
Van Nistelrooy lauded El Khannouss after the match, telling BBC Sport: “We created opportunities through compact defending, winning the ball, and quick counterattacks, with players making runs behind the defense. El Khannouss was outstanding, with an assist and a goal.”
El Khannouss reflected on his achievement, saying, “When you’re young, you dream of playing in the biggest league, and the Premier League is that dream. Today, I fulfilled my dream by scoring my first Premier League goal and providing an assist. But as I always say, this is just the beginning of a long journey, and I’m really happy that Vardy finished the goal.”
