The game began disastrously for the Seagulls with a blunder from the back. Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen misjudged a pass that fell straight to Iwobi, allowing him to score early for Fulham. Albion’s defense made a poor start, and Igor’s risky pass to his goalkeeper only worsened the situation.
In the 34th minute, Mitoma delivered a brilliant cross to Adingra, who had a clear shot on goal, but his attempt was saved by the keeper. The Seagulls kept up the pressure, hoping to find an equalizer before halftime, but it never came. Fulham came out strong in the second half, with their fans urging them on, but Brighton slowly regained momentum. A great pass from Van Hecke found Joao Pedro, whose one-touch assist set up Carlos Baleba to fire a shot into the bottom corner, bringing Brighton back into the game.

He said, “We created many chances, but conceded from simple mistakes—both in build-up play and set pieces. We played well with the ball, but defensively we need improvement.”
Hurzeler also highlighted the need for his team to be more clinical in front of goal: “We must be sharper in the box. If you don’t take your chances at the right time, you get punished.”
