“What a RUBBISH Performance”- Alan Shearer DESTROYS ‘Hopeless’ Newcastle After Embarrassing 4-2 Defeat to Brentford

Alan Shearer was furious following Newcastle United’s 4-2 loss to Brentford on Saturday, slamming the team for yet another poor performance.

Despite a strong 3-3 draw with Liverpool earlier in the week, Eddie Howe’s side failed to build on that momentum and suffered a disappointing defeat on the road. Once again, Newcastle’s defensive frailties were exposed, with individual errors contributing to the heavy loss.

Before the match, Newcastle had won five straight against Brentford, but they were completely outclassed by Thomas Frank’s team this time. The first half showed promise as Newcastle looked good going forward, aligning with Howe’s focus on improving their attacking play. However, defensively, the Magpies were disastrous. Harvey Barnes’ mistake led to Brentford’s second goal, and Joelinton’s poor awareness contributed to the third.

Shearer, unimpressed with the defensive collapse, took to X to express his frustration, writing: “Brentford were worthy winners. Much better team. Newcastle were hopeless defensively, and that’s being kind!!”

Newcastle’s performance was a stark contrast to their spirited draw with Liverpool. After another lackluster defeat, Shearer’s comments reflect growing concerns over the team’s inconsistency. The Magpies have now won just two of their last 11 Premier League matches, a worrying trend for a club aiming to return to the Champions League.

The defeat means Newcastle misses the chance to move back into the top half of the Premier League. With their next match against Leicester City looming on December 14th, the pressure is on for Howe’s side to deliver a much-needed victory.
