Nottingham Forest are set to renew their pursuit of a striker in the upcoming January transfer window.

Over the weekend, reports suggested that Forest are interested in signing Wigan’s promising young talent, Thelo Aasgaard. However, the club will likely focus on bigger targets.

In the summer, Forest were rejected by several strikers, including Santiago Gimenez, who turned down a move to the club. Eddie Nketiah also declined a potential switch to Forest, prompting the club to stick with their current attacking options.

One player still linked with Forest since the last window is Yuri Alberto, who recently claimed the Golden Boot for his impressive performances with Corinthians. The Brazilian forward is attracting interest from multiple Premier League clubs, with Murillo, a fan of Alberto, potentially influencing his decision on where to play next.

In an interview with Benja Me Mucho, as reported by Caught Offside, Alberto provided an update on his future. He stated: “I really want to stay at Corinthians, but I also have a dream of playing in Europe, especially in the Premier League. I’m very happy here, particularly because I’ve found my best form. I even joked with the guys at the training centre before the Bahia game, saying, ‘This is the last training camp here at home, at the hotel.’ It’s very rare, and it’s the first time I don’t want the year to end. I don’t want it to end because I’m really enjoying this moment.”

Forest did an excellent job in the summer transfer window, and their recruitment team will look to maintain that success. Alberto has proven his ability to score, netting 31 goals in the 2024 Brazilian top-flight season.

With Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi already in the squad, Forest need a player who can complement their striking options. Alberto would be an exciting addition to the team, and at a reported £25 million, he could be a smart piece of business for the club.
