Breaking: Leicester City reportedly in Verge to secure the signature of Sensational Serie A star who has over 100 Premier League appearances
Leicester City are reportedly interested in signing a Serie A defender in January, with the player potentially leaving his current club less than a year after joining.
As the Foxes prepare for the upcoming transfer window, strengthening their defense is likely to be a priority. Leicester have struggled defensively this season, with only Wolves conceding more first-half goals. Players like Wout Faes, Conor Coady, Jannik Vestergaard, and Caleb Okoli have shown inconsistent form, prompting manager Ruud van Nistelrooy to seek improvements.
A new name linked with a move to the King Power Stadium is 26-year-old Ben Godfrey, according to reports from Italy. Godfrey joined Atalanta in the summer after spending four seasons at Everton but has struggled for game time, making only four appearances for the Serie A leaders. Despite his experience, with over 100 Premier League appearances for Everton and Norwich City, Godfrey appears to be out of favor in Italy and could be allowed to leave.
Leicester are not the only club reportedly interested in Godfrey. Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest and Wolves are also said to be considering a move for the defender. However, Wolves may reassess their interest following the sacking of manager Gary O’Neil, as a new manager could have a different approach. Roma, managed by Leicester legend Claudio Ranieri, have also been linked with Godfrey, though the defender may prefer a return to England where he can secure regular playing time.
