Ange Postecoglou, former Celtic manager, is facing increasing pressure following Tottenham’s recent defeat in the Premier League.
Despite Spurs being only five points off the European spots, on the verge of Europa League qualification, and reaching the Carabao Cup semi-finals after a thrilling 4-3 win over Manchester United, Postecoglou is being urged to reconsider the attacking style that made him a hero at Celtic.
The latest setback came with a 6-3 loss to Liverpool, raising doubts about Postecoglou’s approach. Discussing the manager’s struggles at Tottenham, Chris Sutton shut down Robbie Savage, who made a comment about Postecoglou’s time at Celtic.
Sutton, on BBC 606, responded sharply to Savage’s suggestion that Postecoglou’s style only works in the Scottish Premiership: “You don’t know what you’re talking about. Have a little respect. This is a guy who’s won things in Scotland, Japan, and Australia. Don’t be arrogant.”
Savage’s criticism of Postecoglou was countered by Sutton, who reminded him of the Australian’s vast success at multiple levels, including domestic leagues and international competitions.
