“Absolutely Unbelievable”- Michael Dawson wowed by two Nottingham Forest stars vs Brentford
Nottingham Forest secured a 2-0 victory over Brentford on Saturday, making it three consecutive wins in the Premier League. Goals from Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga helped Nuno Espirito Santo become the first manager to guide an away team to victory at the Gtech Community Stadium this season.
Elanga has been receiving encouragement from Jermain Defoe, and it seems to be working as he has now scored in back-to-back matches.
For their trip to Brentford, Forest adopted a slightly different approach, with Brian Laws praising Espirito Santo’s tactical adjustments. The Reds delivered a strong performance, sitting fourth in the Premier League standings after the win.
Michael Dawson Impressed by Forest’s Defenders
For long-time Forest fans, Michael Dawson is remembered as one of the club’s finest central defenders. However, Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo are quickly closing in on, if not already surpassing, his level of brilliance.
The duo, along with Morato, formed a solid defensive unit, and Dawson was particularly impressed by Milenkovic and Murillo’s performances. Speaking on Sky Sports, he praised their skills: “Morato was joined by Murillo and Milenkovic, who were both outstanding. They know their strengths. Murillo is comfortable bringing the ball forward with his excellent left foot, while Milenkovic is a traditional centre-back—he clears everything, makes no unnecessary plays.”
Forest’s Brilliant Acquisition of Milenkovic
While the signing of Murillo was a positive move, last season it became clear that Forest needed an experienced defender alongside him. The arrival of Milenkovic in the summer was a stroke of genius, and he has proven to be an exceptional addition to the team.
The Serbian captain, signed for £12 million, has been a revelation, enhancing Forest’s defensive and offensive play. Milenkovic has already scored in games against Manchester United and Aston Villa, contributing goals from set pieces.
At 27, Milenkovic is in his prime, and if Forest were to ever consider selling him, his value would likely be much higher than what they paid. Together with Murillo, Milenkovic has bolstered the Forest defense, and the pair will hopefully continue to lead the team to more positive results as the season unfolds.
