Gabby Agbonlahor believes Leeds United is set to secure promotion to the Premier League this season, asserting their superiority over other teams.
The outspoken pundit anticipates that the Whites will triumph against Derby County on December 29 at Pride Park, despite Derby’s strong home performance.
Following their 2-0 victory over Stoke on Boxing Day at the bet365 Stadium, Leeds currently sit atop the Championship table, and Agbonlahor is confident in their promotion prospects.
Speaking on talkSPORT on December 27, the 38-year-old said, “I do think they will get promoted. On Sunday, Farke will be happy because Derby is struggling. Leeds is a very good team. While Derby has a solid home record, they are weak away. They’ll be playing at home on Sunday, but Farke’s squad is too strong for anyone right now.”
Leeds United is favored to return to the English top flight due to the depth of their squad. Despite facing several injury challenges, the Whites have maintained their position at the top of the Championship and are well-placed as the season progresses.
Throughout much of the campaign, the German manager has relied on Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka in midfield, but Ethan Ampadu has now returned to fitness. Ilia Gruev is also on the mend, and Farke could soon have his strongest squad available.
Currently, Leeds is level on points with Sheffield United, but they have an opportunity to widen that gap on December 29 if the Blades do not secure a win against West Brom.
