BREAKING; Hull City’s relegation rivals sack another manager after defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United
Stoke City parted ways with head coach Narcis Pelach following a series of disappointing results, including recent losses to Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United.
The club announced the decision to sack Pelach on Friday night after just 19 games in charge. The final blow came after a 2-0 defeat to Leeds on Boxing Day, leaving Stoke in 19th place in the Sky Bet Championship, only three points above the relegation zone.
Pelach, a 36-year-old Catalan, had been appointed in September and won only three of the 18 league matches under his leadership. His departure followed a 2-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday the Saturday before Christmas.
Sporting director Jon Walters expressed appreciation for Pelach’s talent and hard work but admitted the coach was not the right fit for the club at this time. “Narcis is a talented coach with huge potential, and I have no doubt that he will achieve success in the future.
However, given recent results and performances, we must acknowledge that he wasn’t the right fit for us,” Walters stated. “I take full responsibility for that, and we are committed to making the right choice for the future of the club.”
Stoke, having lost five of their last six league games, are struggling in the relegation battle alongside Hull City. The club has not yet revealed the makeup of their coaching staff ahead of Sunday’s match against high-flying Sunderland.
