‘In excess of’… Leicester City told how much they will have to pay for star with more goals than Jamie Vardy
Leicester City are actively seeking to sign a new attacker during the January transfer window.
The primary issue for the Foxes in the 2024/25 season has been their defensive struggles, particularly conceding too many goals. However, there are still improvements to be made at the attacking end, especially with the possibility of Odsonne Edouard returning to Crystal Palace in January.
If Edouard departs, Leicester would be left with only Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka as their natural center-forward options.
Recently, Leicester were linked with Emmanuel Latte Lath from Middlesbrough, with the Ivorian striker among the Championship’s top scorers this season. However, another in-form Championship player, Haji Wright of Coventry City, has also emerged as a potential target, and the Foxes have now been informed of the price they may need to pay for him.
Leicester City Told How Much to Pay for Haji Wright
Haji Wright, who has scored seven goals and provided one assist in 15 league appearances this season, has been linked with Leicester City. The 26-year-old has scored more goals than Vardy (6) in the current campaign and would add a significant attacking threat in the Premier League.
However, acquiring Wright is expected to be expensive, with former player-turned-pundit Carlton Palmer stating that the striker will likely cost more than £15 million, according to Football League World.
Palmer remarked: “Leicester City and Ipswich Town are both showing interest in Coventry City striker Haji Wright.
The US international joined Coventry in the summer of 2023 for a club-record £7.7 million from Antalyaspor. If Coventry decides to sell, they would expect a fee of over £15 million.”
Wright’s Stats Compared to Leicester City’s Forwards
Wright had a strong debut season in England, scoring 16 goals in 44 Championship appearances for Coventry. Although injuries have limited his impact in the 2024/25 season, he has still managed to post impressive numbers.
