“Gary Lineker’s Shocking Warning to Everton After Sacking Sean Dyche – Fans Won’t Believe What He Said
Everton are actively searching for a new manager after parting ways with Sean Dyche on Thursday.
The decision to sack Dyche came after a run of just one win in their last 11 matches left the club just one point above the Premier League relegation zone. The move was made just hours before their 2-0 victory over Peterborough in the FA Cup third round.
In response to Dyche’s departure, former Everton player Gary Lineker issued a cautionary statement, labeling the decision as a “gamble.” Speaking on The Rest Is Football with Micah Richards and Alan Shearer, Lineker expressed concern over the club’s decision to dismiss Dyche, who, despite not playing attractive football, appeared capable of keeping the team in the Premier League. Lineker noted that while a new manager might bring a short-term boost, if that doesn’t materialize, the club could be in a more perilous position.
“It’s a gamble, as you said,” Lineker remarked. “When we made our predictions, all of us thought Everton would stay up because of Sean Dyche—not in spite of him. His style wasn’t the most pleasing, and fans have found it tough recently, with few goals, but despite that, they managed to get results against some big teams. Now, with a new manager, there’s a chance for a bounce, but if it doesn’t happen, the club could be in an even worse position.”
As for the ongoing search for a new manager, TBR Football reported that David Moyes is in line to make a return to Goodison Park. Talks with Moyes are continuing, and Everton hope to finalize a deal within the next 24 hours. Initially considering a short-term contract, discussions have now shifted towards an 18-month deal.
