Rangers footage: Tam McManus reacts to ‘Clumsy’ controversy v Dundee

Rangers were fortunate not to concede a penalty following a “clumsy” incident in their 1-1 draw against Dundee, according to Tam McManus.

The match at Dens Park on January 9 saw Rangers fall behind to a sixth-minute goal from Oluwaseun Adewuni, before Vaclav Cerny equalised. However, prior to the equaliser, there was a review of an earlier moment when Clinton Nsiala seemed to step on Simon Murray during a counter-attack.

After analyzing the footage, McManus commented on X: “It’s clearer here that Nsiala definitely steps on Simon Murray’s foot. Clumsy.”

Rangers were fortunate not to have given away a penalty, which could have left them 2-0 down instead of allowing them to equalise. Nsiala, making his league debut for the Gers, initially looked uncertain but grew into the match, in contrast to the more experienced players around him.

Though the decision would have been a soft one, similar penalties have been given, but referee Calum Scott did not believe it warranted a spot-kick, much to the relief of the under-pressure manager Philippe Clement.

Rangers had hoped to reduce their points gap to Celtic to 13, but after another draw, they failed to do so. This draw followed their 3-3 draw with Hibernian on January 5, putting further pressure on Clement. If results don’t improve soon, the Belgian manager could face the sack, leaving Rangers to start again.

In other Rangers news, there has been an update regarding the club’s pursuit of securing a permanent transfer for a two-time league-winning midfielder.
